Meet Oscar. Sure he’s a Prickly Pear but he’s no grouch! His goofy shape and sweet colors will bring a joyful smile to anyone’s face. And he’s so easy going, all he really wants is bright sun and to be on the dry side. He’s definitely one to stake out his sunny spot by the pool and never dip his toes in! Once he matures in life, he’ll produce a delicious fruit, but Oscar is lovable no matter what his age.

We recommend planting this plug in our Cactus & Succulent soil.

**IMPORTANT NOTE:
This plant ships as a 1″ fully rooted starter plant, as shown in the second photo. It will come wrapped in moss and tucked in a growers pot for safety. The terra cotta pot with the mature plant, shown in the first photo, is not included.
If you order multiple plants, we put them together in one pot so they stay moist and insulated. If you think we haven’t sent the full order, please take out the plants from the pot first to count them.

Notes:

  • Botanical name: Opuntia monacantha variegata
  • Sun, sun, sun! The more light it receives, the more likely it is to bloom and fruit. The fruit is edible and delicious!
  • The more light received, the more colorful the foliage.
  • Wait until the plant begins to wrinkle a bit, then give it a good drink. As with a new cutting, make sure not to water a newly repotted prickly pear for a brief period to avoid rotting its roots.
