If you are new to the world of gardening podcasts, here are some to get you started.
In Defense of Plants
Matt Candeias’s weekly podcast is full of stories about plants and how they influence our lives, with a strong slant towards science: if you’re a plant geek, or want to become one, In Defense of Plants is the place to start, with episodes tackling issues like demystifying orchids, city bee diversity, and awesome agaves.

A Way to Garden
Margaret Roach’s show goes out on public-radio show, from Connecticut-based Robin Hood Radio, the smallest NPR station in the US, but it’s a podcast too. A Way to Garden has been going for eight years, so Roach really knows her stuff, bringing insights from her own garden in New York’s Hudson Valley and an array of excellent guests gleaned from 25 years as a garden writer: from plantsman Dan Hinkley on hydrangeas to landscape architect Thomas Rainer on sustainable design. Every episode is inspired by Roach’s own garden exploits, disasters, and adventures.

The Plant Report
Learn about the botanical world one plant at a time. The Plant Report is a new educational podcast from Sustainable World Radio about plants, herbal medicine, heirloom seeds, ethnobotany and the human/plant relationship. Jill Cloutier brings you episodes like “Meet the Geranium Family” and “Lovely Lavender” (about growing lavender in Montana).

Native Plant Podcast
Highly entertaining as well as hugely informational, Native Plant Podcast is a podcast started by a group of goofballs to highlight the beauty and functionality of native plants in the landscape. Mike Berkeley and John Magee are the regular hosts with Jesse Turner operating behind the scene. They each have their own nursery and/or landscaping businesses that deal largely with native plants. Together they have decades of experience working with native plants.

Still Growing
Still Growing, by Jennifer Ebeling, is a weekly gardening podcast dedicated to helping you and your garden grow. Jennifer hosts this hour-long show interviewing experts from around the country. The podcast also features a bi-monthly Master Gardener roundtable with Master Gardeners who share their gardening tips and horticulture techniques for gardeners of all skill levels. The podcast is focused on reliable knowledge – the guests are typically experts like academics, master gardeners, gardening entrepreneurs or public garden leaders.

All Things Plants
The All Things Plants podcast is a weekly audio program from the National Gardening Association, where Dave and Trish Whitinger discuss everything interesting and new in the gardening world. Each episode features regular segments as well as occasional top 10 lists, interviews and more.

On The Ledge
Jane Perrone’s podcast is On The Ledge, and it’s all about indoor gardening, from growing chillies on a windowsill to that venus fly trap you killed to the spider plant in your kitchen that refuses to die. Hilarious and educational, this is the podcast for houseplant hoarders with a sense of humor!

Bloom & Grow
A weekly podcast designed for the Urban Jungle Dweller, Houseplant Enthusiast and Succulent Killer alike. Maria Failla interviews different “Plant People” in the Urban Gardening community to source houseplant care tips, stories and lessons they’ve learned from caring for their plants along the way.
