Serviceberry, Saskatoon ‘Regent’
Amelanchier alnifolia 'Regent'
In the spring, clusters of beautiful white to pink flowers appear in profusion before leaf-out. The leaves are purplish when they first emerge, ageing to bluish green above and gray-green below. They are rounded, and finely toothed. The blue berries make their debut in the summer. The fruit of the ‘Regent’ variety are known to be larger and sweeter than others. Birds will flock to them in droves. In the fall, the leaves turn yellow to red.
