(‘Fameuse’ x ‘Detroit Red’) Ontario, Canada, 1870. A well-known older apple that has a sprightly flavor and a medium storage life. Nearly solid, bright red skin. Heavy bearer. Good for eating and baking. Fruit tends to drop when ripe. McIntosh Apple trees require 900 chill hours. McIntosh Apple Trees are not self-fertile. You will need to plant another variety to achieve fruiting. They prefer full sun and moist, well-drained soil.
