Jan and Jim Gulley began their business in 1975 growing Blue Spruce and columbine in their backyard on Sherwood Street across from Colorado State University. Jim Gulley grew up in the horticultural business. Jan Gulley has a horticultural degree from CSU.  The Gulleys moved to their present location in 1980 and Gulley Greenhouse began retail sales in May 1981. In 1992, Gulley Greenhouse became incorporated and currently employs 80-100 people year round.

Gulley Greenhouse began with 2 greenhouses from a carnation range from Jim’s Father. As of 2008, there were 173,760 sq. ft. of cold frames and 82,470 sq. ft of heated greenhouses. Gulley Greenhouse, Inc. currently produces over 1000 perennial, 100 herb, and 650 annual varieties.  The quantities sold are over 200,000 gallon perennials, 25,000 roses, 500,000 2 ½” perennials and herbs, and 5 million plugs. Gulley Greenhouse is a licensed distributor for Jeepers Creepers® , Rock Stars®, Burpee Home Gardens as well as an exclusive grower of Live Roof Modules.

Gulley Greenhouse, Inc. is divided into 3 divisions: Retail, Wholesale, and Poppers.  The Retail department is our Garden Center and Nursery.  The Wholesale department sells finished plants to garden centers and landscapers all over Colorado as well as Wyoming and Nebraska. Our plug department, also known as Poppers, sells starter plants in numerous sizes to companies all across America and into Canada and Mexico.  These plants are sold through 30 different Broker companies located nation wide.
